Women Leaving the Workforce: CBS LA Interviews Expert Anne Loehr
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Situation Summary released on Friday, September 6th, the labor force participation rate fell to 63.2% in August. The last time it was that low was in August of 1978.
There are several reasons for this trend. One of them is the fact that women are leaving the workforce. CBS News Los Angeles interviewed me on why women are leaving the workforce.
Only 19% of C-Suite executives are women, and only 4% CEO’s. The stats are pretty remarkable. Take a look.
Underneath the statistics we find gender biases still influence the advancement and treatment of women in the workforce. Reading about the study Stanford did on transgendered people’s experiences as both men and women in the workforce, the picture is clear: women aren’t treated the same at work and are not offered the same opportunities.
